An early-season nor’easter? These maps show what we know so far, ahead of a messy Tuesday. - The Boston Globe
1+ min ago (311+ words) Meteorological winter begins Monday, and what's better to kick off the season than a budding winter storm holding nor'easter and snow-day potential? All signs point to an evolving storm originating from the deep southeastern part of the country and being carried with the jet stream up the East Coast toward New England by mid- to late Tuesday morning. The blustery storm is expected to make a rather quick exit, with most of New England in the clear by Wednesday morning. There is the potential for this storm to turn into a bona fide nor'easter, but we just don't know yet. The atmosphere is very unsettled, especially with the recent weakening of the polar vortex increasing chances for a winter storm. But should the storm slip over coastal waters, northeast winds off the ocean would then support heavy precipitation across the region....

AMD mentions unreleased gaming-optimized Ryzen 7 9850X3D — could be the next fastest gaming CPU ever
8+ min ago (281+ words) Things can only get better. AMD has quietly listed the Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor in its 'Drivers and Downloads' section (via Gray). With this official mention, the existence of the product is all but confirmed, and if the new CPU does exist, it could be the next best processor for gamers in this generation of CPUs. AMD's Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor with eight cores running at up to 5.20 GHz with a 96MB last level cache already offers formidable performance in games. It has even inspired our Editor-in-Chief to call it the best gaming CPU. A higher product number almost certainly means higher performance, unless we are dealing with an OEM-specific SKU designed for a particular system. Tom's Hardware has inquired about the new SKU, but due to the long weekend, we don't expect a quick response. Now that TSMC's advanced packaging technologies enable AMD to…...

🚀 ECS Express Mode: From an image to an HTTPS endpoint in a single step
11+ min ago (343+ words) To make this process much simpler, AWS released ECS Express Mode, a new way to deploy containerized applications without having to worry about all that complicated infrastructure. In this article I explain what it is, how it works, and why it can be very useful if you're learning AWS. It's a fast way to deploy a containerized application using Amazon ECS. The idea is simple: you just upload your image to ECR (or use one you already have), and ECS Express Mode takes care of the rest. In just a few clicks or commands, you'll have a running service with HTTPS, load balancing, monitoring, and autoscaling ready to use. ECS Express Mode configures infrastructure for you that normally takes quite a long time: " An Application Load Balancer (ALB) So your application can receive HTTPS traffic securely. The certificate is also…...

Eazypasswords a zero knowledge password manager
16+ min ago (200+ words) I've been tired of paying $60/year just to securely share Netflix and WiFi passwords with my family. I wanted to build a lightweight, secure alternative that runs entirely on the Edge and is only 5$ per year! Here is how I built EazyPasswords, a Zero-Knowledge vault that costs me almost nothing to run, thanks to the modern serverless stack. I wanted instant load times and zero cold starts, so I avoided traditional containers. Backend: Hono running on Cloudflare Workers. Database: Cloudflare D1 (SQLite at the Edge). Frontend: Vanilla JS (hosted on Cloudflare Pages). Why Cloudflare D1? For a side project, cost is everything. D1 allows for millions of reads/writes for free. This architecture allows me to offer a Free Family Plan to users because my overhead is practically zero. I need your feedback (Beta) I am currently in Open Beta. Since I'm a…...

"British scientists" is a phrase that has a pronounced ironic connotation today. In fact, it's not funny at all. "British scientists" are a very effective combat unit of the colonization potential of the Anglo-Saxons, and they fulfill their role in this capacity by 101%. It has just been 365 years since the birth of this monster, the British Academy of Sciences, also known as the House of Solomon, Gresham College (the Invisible College), and the Rosicrucian Society. Today, this structure very closely controls our domestic science, and through it influences technological progress and our policy....
